I'm sticking to my story that's how this story goes, so stop me if you've heard this one before. I'll tell it again and again, again, again until it brings you rapping at my door. It's only one road that a man must walk down, one road which has no end that I can see. Tall buildings lean and sway in the breeze, their shadows are my only company. I know I've tried to fight it, so I'm taking this town. Every single brick that lines my street, and I won't believe, again again again, in anything that's easy to believe. Tell me how does it feel to be so all alone?
2.
Try to light your fuse, I understand that your confused, turn your eyes down like you turn down all the lights. You said a curse will do, even believed in one or two, can't recall the words, can't conjure up the lines. Oh, she would want it, she would want it, that way.

Single Frame 03:04
A scene so long, tired, unedited, set in stone. A seven minute life, motion standing still, static framed in silence. You're so far away, the heroes movement staged, how could it be, climbing up the walls, towering above, the magnet tape unbinds me. Stop motion, stop music, stop motion, everything rewind.
4.
I've got a roll of film asleep on my window sill and I try to be as still, I try to be as still. As in a silent film, the words she didn't say, the images convey, all the images convey. She will forgive and she will will forget, she will forgive me, forget me. In black and white and shades of gray, I've got a roll of film in a silent way

Talusa 03:52
It's a morning unlike any morning, it doesn't come easy for you. Clouds push you down, they mimic the planes on the runway, they mimic the clouds going downtown. It doesn't come easy for you, you've gotta try. So what are you waiting for, someone to wish you goodbye? It's an evening like any night. So what are you waiting for, someone to wish you goodbye?

Shatterbox 03:06
I'll wade down stream, I'll wait till morning. I'll wade down stream, I'll wait till morning. A shatterbox, a china doll, a china shop, a fire drill. A shatterbox, a china doll, a china shop, a fire drill.
8.
Painters 03:54
By the corner store paint makes it's way on a fence and what's more, I should speak in my own defense. How will you call me, how will you call me, if you don't know my name. We all sit back and watch the paint dry and watch the girls that drive by. We all must know, know a better way. A better end to a better day. How will you call me, how will you call me, if you don't know my name?
9.
You're bringing that same old curse with frost bitten lips. It's hard to tell which one is worse. I think the black cat's got my tongue and he's clawing at the verse. You go that way and I will this... send my love with wave and kiss. Leaves have been falling for you, for you. I've been fighting that same old curse with something true. You go that way and I will this... send my love with wave and kiss.
10.
There's a holiday, a street parade, you and I are locked away. If the motorbikes like flocks of birds are ruled by nature I couldn't say. Sundays we'd lie in bed and talk about airplanes. Walking up your telephone cries metallic tears and I don't care who it is, or which buildings falling. Cover your road side bed with leaves. I'm killing myself with kindness. Stand and listen to machines that speak our poetry, while a man buries life as death, this is his street side eulogy. Sundays we'd lie in bed and talk about airplanes. Walking up your telephone cries metallic tears and I don't care who it is, or which city is burning. Cover your road side bed with leaves. I'm killing myself with kindness. I don't care who it is or which cities falling. I don't care who it is, or which buildings burning.

Dawn Chorus 02:41
Almost ready for the dance just one more thing dawn will bring.. Chorus of the morning
12.
All your fathers records still spin with amazing grace, and I would have killed for that look on his face, coming home late from his first day of school, his mother would teach him with six golden rulers. Sucker chime slow dance and your still stuck standing in shadows of dance halls and funeral homes

about

After years spent playing in various rock, folk and jazz groups around Chicago, Gary Calhoun James struck out on his own for the first time in 2006, releasing the self-titled debut of his first solo project, Box of Baby Birds, on his own WOR label. Many frequent collaborators and friends joined in the process including Alance Ward, Matt Focht, Dan Mohr and Geoff Dolce who were to become the Chicago based live band from 2006-2009. The result was a multi-layered, melodic album that toed the line between the experimental folk of Chicago natives Califone and Wilco and the more widely recognizable psychedelic pop of post-Rubber Soul Beatles. James’ acoustic guitar and hushed vocal melodies were the only constant in mixes which included literally dozens of instruments rolling in and out like the tide
